Welcome Bridie- new Councillor for AWSC!

Kia Ora! My name is Bridie Marsden-Boyd and I am super excited to be the new Tikanga Pakeha Councillor Bridie Marsden-Boyd I have been a proud advocate for women for many years, having run workshops on the feminine divine, raised up young women to leadership in Church and been a delegate to UNSCW to name a few. I have a strong passion for theology- and am a perpetual student who never left uni! At the moment I am completing a Masters in Chaplaincy focusing on rituals. Nyasha joins the Council for the Anglican Women’s Studies Centre

Nyasha has been appointed as one of the two tikanga Pakeha Council, joining the Revd Val Riches. Tikanga Maori Council are the Revd Bettina Maxwell, and the Revd Ruihana Paenga. Tikanga Polynesia Council are Mrs Zita Reid and Ms Kelera Oli. The Revd Dr Nyasha Gumbeze Nyasha is an ordained priest in the Anglican Diocese of Auckland. She is the Vicar of St Michaels And All Angels Church in Henderson. She is married with two children. Nyasha and her family came from Zimbabwe 18 years ago. She attended Laidlaw College, St Johns Theological College, is a graduate of the University of Auckland and completed a Doctorate in Ministry in 2019 with Virginia Theological Seminary. Zita Reid is one of two new Tikanga Pasefika Council Members Zita Reid, Samoa My name is  Genevieve Rozita Reid and I am the President of the Association of Anglican Women in the All Saints Anglican Parish in Samoa. I married into the Anglican Church over 30 years ago and have been President for about 6 years now. In 2019 I was elected and became the first Samoan to become President of the AAW in the Diocese of Polynesia. Adrian Reid, ny husband, is the current people’s warden and my son is the current President of All Saints Anglican Youth. Our family is very dedicated to the parish through our leadership roles. Bula, Kelera Oli! New Councillor for tikanga Pasefika.

Time management, right priorities and balance Kelera Oli I am excited to expand the scope of my work in God’s calling, in the Women’s Ministry. Kelera Oli Kelera Oli was born into a Christian family and baptized in the Anglican Church in Naviavia, Savusavu in 1966 and confirmed for Holy Communion in 1979 at St John’s Church, Wailoku, Suva. Kelera is experienced in all the groups within the church particularly in the Women’s groups. She has played an active part of the Association of Anglican Women for about 30 years and has served the leadership team for more than 10 years. She is also affiliated with the Mother’s Union . The new Convenor of the Council for Anglican Women's Studies is the Ven Canon Helen Roud. The Ven Canon Helen Roud, Convenor Council for Anglican Women's Studies Tena koutou katoa, Bula vinaka, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, warm greetings in Christ.  I was delighted to join AWSC council in July 2017, just in time to travel to Tonga for a wonderfully informative council meeting. What struck me then and has continued since, is the glorious diversity of gifts, the faithfulness and commitment to growth, learning and leadership, and the joyful fellowship of the women I have the privilege to meet – in council and across our 3-tikanga church. Handing over -a new Council for AWSC

AWSC Council 2018-2020 Nai Cokanasiga, Ceridwyn Parr (administrator), Bettina Maxwell, Evelini Langi, Val Riches, Helen Roud, Numia Tomoana (Convenor). It was farewell to Convenor Revd Numia Tomoana, and Pasefika Councillor, Revd Evelini Langi when the Council met in March. Both Numia and Evelini have made a wonderful and purposeful contribution to the life and direction of the Anglican Women's Studies Centre. At General Synod, held by ZOOM in July, three new Councillors were appointed by their respective tikanga. A True Sense of Home for Ruihana Paenga

Ruihana Paenga Ahakoa haere koe ki hea e kore te whenua e neke ka noho pumau mo tou hokitanga mai. No matter where you go, the land remains steadfast, awaiting your return Ruihana Paenga National Youth Advisor for Te Pīhopatanga o Aotearoa. She is also the LINK for the Anglican Women's Studies Centre in te Hui Amorangi o te Tairawhiti. Ruihana Paenga was raised away from whenua in the diaspora. The karanga rang through the warm evening to welcome the arrival of the new Dean of Waikato. The Revd Wendy Scott escorted by many friends and whanau walked up the aisle  of the Waikato Cathedral Church of St Peter, in Kirikiriroa , Hamilton. Suddenly a lone voice sang out - I thank you Lord for this amazing day The Revd Wendy Scott congratulated by  the Revd Val Riches (left) , AWSC COUncillor,and Ms Ceridwyn Parr (right) AWSC administrator, at the reception after Wendy’s installation as Dean .
