The Council for Anglican Women’s Studies invites you to a Virtual Theology Chat, to hear Jax Clark.

This was recorded on 17 March 2022

In a 2020 interview for America’s Public radio, Lutheran Minister, theologian and recovering alcoholic Nadia Bolz Weber stated “the basement of their church is more full of people talking honestly about their lives and connecting with some sort of God.  I think this happens more frequently in basements than it does in their sanctuaries.”.

For the last 6 years, Jax has found herself in the side room of a Quaker hall (a 12-step recovery, a fellowship for family members affected by the disease of alcoholism).  Since then, she has arrived as a residential student at St John’s Anglican College to discern future vocation and study Practical Theology at Otago University.  Last year, Jax completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Theology and wrote a dissertation looking at the 12-Step programme and how its characteristics of honesty, openness and willingness could be enhancing to wider church culture.

Jax is happy for you to contact her.

A Virtual Theology chat is presented on Zoom, and features a speaker for 20 minutes, followed by time to ask questions and make links with others who are also Zooming in.  It finishes at 8pm.

Video will available the next day, if you can’t join in in real time. See www.anglicanwomen.nz for details.

Virtual Theology Chats are an opportunity to hear from women around NZ and Polynesia who are engaged in social action, writing, thinking, research and leadership.

All are welcome on the third Thursday of each month.
