Sisterhood of Love

April 10, 2020

Nesi Val Bolivia in Tonga

It was an experience of camaraderie and ‘Sisterhood’, when the AWSC Pasefika Tikanga met in the Kingdom of Tonga from Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th November 2019. Revd Sonja Hunter writes... There were seventeen (17) representatives from the Island Nations of Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa and the Kingdom of Tonga. The flexible, yet dynamic programme focused on lively conversations on women clergy development issues, and the promotion of the AWSC Book Project of ‘Telling our Stories: 40 Years of Women’s Ordination’. The separate Hui of the three Tikanga in 2019 was a decision by the AWSC Council ‘to strengthen the Tikanga base as we move ahead together in the strength of our own … [Read more...]

For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7: 13-14 Jesus never said anything will come easy to us in this life, but He did say it will be worth it. Sitting back and thinking about my journey as a young woman in the Church as well as a daughter of God, I am very humbled and blessed to have been a part of the Anglican Women Studies Center in Tonga. Leading up to my departure … [Read more...]

Wisdom from members

The Hui for me was so special, as it reminded me of why our role is special within our Church, Communities and especially our families. I was reminded of the importance of our calling as women to “mother” “nurture” and “recognize” the journey or paths that we must take.
